It's over, but not the end

I LOVE MY NEW `ŌHIA FAMILY!!!

Theatre people are my favorite. They understand me and make me feel like I'm accepted into their community, into their world. I'm really sad that Iso Peanut is over, but we ended with a bang. 1,243 people at our closing show! It was pretty much sold out. I left everything out on that stage yesterday. I had an amazing time, and I learned a lot during this run. About theatre, the profession, and about myself; especially about where my priorities are with theatre and the people in my life.

Now, for more auditions and hopefully more roles and shows. :)

Opening night a success!!

The Princess and the Iso Peanut is a big hit! Everyone is loving the show. :)

On opening night, Lisa Matsumoto's family came to the show and they basically left in tears. It's the first show `Ōhia has done since Lisa passed, which is a really big deal. This was one of her favorites, so it's pretty special to everyone involved. I know that I feel really honored to be in such a production, putting on this show that brings crowds every night. Saturday and Sunday, there were groups of little girls that actually came to the show dressed up in princess dresses and tiaras! ^_^

It's been nice to see some friends that I haven't seen in so long! Tarina and Brandi came, also a bunch of the seniors up at KS. They all dressed up and were cheering throughout the whole show. I know Fuj was super happy to see them too.

Anyways. There's talk about Manoa Valley Theatre doing Once Upon One Time this summer, and everyone (well, not really, but a bunch of people) from the cast are going to be auditioning. I want to, but Manoa Valley is pretty far away. And I was fortunate to have this show be at Hawai`i Theatre, and half the rehearsals at Waiau in Pearl City. And to know someone who lives out my side who could give me rides home. I don't know. I really wanna audition for that show, it's such a great, funny production. But, I have to figure things out.

Damn. Only if I drove.

Mākaukau?

THE PRINCESS AND THE ISO PEANUT OPENS THIS FRIDAY, APRIL 9!!!!!

I'm excited. :) Not nervous, though. I might have said this to a few people, at some point in time, that I rarely ever get nervous before an opening show, or any show really. I think doing the poetry slam last semester has been one of the only times I physically felt nervous before performing.

Wednesday we have an audience of 50, I'm not quite sure who's coming to see it. A small group of important people. Maybe people from `Ōhia Productions? Then Thursday is our preview show, and two of my friends from drama at KS are coming, so that'll be nice. Hopefully we can go eat together after, or just hang out for a little.

Friday is also Jesse's birthday. :)

In my last post on blogger I talked about how upset I was about my friends saying that they weren't going to come and see my show. I guess that was the wrong way of going about it? Blogging about it online is so cliché, but hey, I'm an actor. ^_^ Nah. Seriously though, I shouldn't have talked about it in that way. I'm not sorry for the things I said and I'm not going to take it back, since that's the way I honestly felt about it.

I really do feel angry and hurt when my friends don't come to see me in the shows that I do. In high school and college I've done a bunch of shows and put a lot of hard work into them. So it's great to have my friends come and appreciate the thing that I love to do and it means a lot to me to have them there in the audience. Honestly, it hurts me more than it upsets me. I guess it stings more because for this show it's not just one or two of my friends, it's a whole bunch of them.

Writing and bitching online seemed like the easiest way to get my frustration out after the immediately realization about my friends.

Anyways. I got home after midnight tonight and that was fucking lame. I hate having to rely on others to have a way of getting home so late at night. If only they didn't talk so damn much and "hang out" after rehearsal. Eff. Māluhiluhi loa au! E hele ana au i ko`u lumi. E hiamoe!!

A strange blend

Alice In Wonderland jewelry = pirate jewelry??

I was at Walmart today getting last minute things for the show, and I saw the Alice In Wonderland movie jewelry and thought that it would be great for my pirate costume for Iso Peanut. I wanted to get a necklace with a bunch of trinkets on it. Then I thought about how I have to do a cartwheel in that pirate scene, and I'm not sure it'd be good to be wearing a necklace while doing a cartwheel. So I didn't get it. But I thought that was pretty amusing, how I instantly thought of how much it looked like good pirate costume jewelry.

I'm glad I don't have any outrageous character makeup to do for this show. With quick costume changes, if I had to deal with character makeup I probably wouldn't make my entrances on time. :/ No bueno.

Isn't it usually kinda funny when you see someone from your class outside of school on the day that you didn't go? ^_^ Makes me laugh. At least I can blame the power outage we had which caused me not to wake up to my alarm.

LOLLIPOP!

I finally got a lollipop award today at rehearsal! It was a smiley award! :)

Lollipop awards are given to people who do really well during the rehearsal. Like we have regular smiley awards for people who are always smiling during their scenes. There's also specific ones, like for people who fill in for someone who's missing, people who always rehearse choreography on their own time, creativity awards, etc. It's just fun to have these at the end of rehearsal.

I found out today that Manoa Valley Theatre (I think) is gonna be doing Once Upon One Time. I wanna audition for that, but it's so freakin far from where I live. And buses are not reliable when you're going to rehearsal. But man. I really wanna keep up with theatre. I've missed it a lot, and this whole production has been great.

...Except for the part where Kuni dropped the show.

Yeah. All those emoticons express how I feel about the situation. Dumb.
